My Indoor Garden

I started my garden project just a few weeks ago and I am having quite a bit of fun with it.
So far I am growing black beans, baby bell peppers, pablano peppers, romaine lettuce and meyer lemons.
I should be getting more seeds this week so I can plant tomatoes and carrots.  I also have some swiss chard seeds coming.  I don't really like chard but it looks nice so I got the seeds anyway.
I am pretty excited about my first harvest.... it should be about 10 weeks away.. fingers crossed!

I have lots of shelving and grow lights so I am sure my garden will grow larger as time goes by.
The plan is to add dwarf avocado and blood orange trees to my indoor orchard
and maybe a fig tree if I have room.

Originally I thought this would be a fun way to save some money on produce, but so far I am spending far more that I will save...but I guess in the long run it will save me money.  In the mean time I am just enjoying watching my plants grow.

Now that I am settled into my new place I am going to start shooting new fitness videos... so keep an eye out for that!

Raw Yellow Squash Rolls

1 yellow squash sliced thinly in the mandolin
1 avocado
sliced purple pepper
sliced portobello mushroom stem
cultured cucumber and carrots
lentil sprouts
raw apple cider vinegar and garlic blended
cayenne
salt and pepper

mix a bit of the raw acv garlic mixture with the avocado, cayenne , salt and pepper.
mash it up so it is creamy

after slicing the squash spread the avocado on the strips and line the veggies up on 1/4 of the edge.
Roll the squash tightly over the veggies
sprinkle some sprouts on top and enjoy!

Back On Track

Things have finally settled down and I am getting used to this work thing.
I have been able to get back to my raw diet. I have been keeping it pretty simple lately ... lot's of fresh fruit and some salads...and unfortunately alot of junk food also...
My goal was to do the 80/10/10 diet but i have not been able to stick to it. Now my goal is just to be better with my diet and do as much raw as I can.. I don't need to stress myself out with this!

Today i made a raw banana custard pie and some squash rolls with guac and cultured veggies... both were great.
I had planned on photographing the pie but it ate it too quickly .
I stopped eating long enough to get a pic of a few of the squash rolls.
more to come soon!

Crazy

It's been a while since I posted. I have been going crazy with work lately and getting ready for a big move.
I am moving from San Diego to Maryland in just 10 days!.. I still have so much to do.

I have not been able to stick to my raw foods diet very well since so many people are taking me out to eat and say goodbye. Anyone who knows me knows that I am not one to turn down a meal...especially a free one!

Alot of people have been asking me what I eat in a typical day.
Lately nothing in my life has been typical so it's hard to say.

Usually I have about 7 or 8 bananas, a few apples, a head or two of some sort of greens, a few oranges, a few mangos and lately alot of steamed white rice with lentils.

I'll go into more detail later when things calm down, but for now I have to run!

Back and Forth

I have not been so great with my diet since I last posted. I gained some weight..lost some weight...ate really well, the pigged out.

I have decided to try the 811 diet the Douglas Graham has come up with.
The basics of the diet are that you eat 80% of your calories from fresh raw fruit, 10% from greens/veggies and 10% from fat.

I was going to start today but I have alot of food that need to be eaten first...and I really want a greasy taco shop burrito...

I am going to start on Monday and try to stick to it until I move in 3 weeks.
I will post some photos in a few days for my before look and then try to be more consistent with adding posts on here to show my progress.
